SWaM is the acronym for Small, Women- and Minority-owned businesses. The SWaM program serves to enhance procurement opportunities for SWaM businesses participating in state-funded projects.
Once certified, SWaM businesses receive enhanced participation in business procurement activities to amount to 40% of the Commonwealth’s purchases. They are also listed in a special directory used by state procurement officials to locate SWaM certified vendors, allowing for
increased visibility and opportunities.
